Music MUSIC AT THE CATHEDRAL OF SAINT HELENA The Cathedral Choir The Cathedral Choir sings choral literature from all musical periods: Gregorian Chant, Renaissance polyphony, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary music. The Cathedral Choir sings at all 11:00 Masses and most Solemnities. Eligibility: Men and women, ages 16 and older and (Boys who have sung in the choir previously and voices have changed). Rehearsals: Rehearsals are held in the Cathedral following the 11:00 a.m. Mass. The St. Cecilia Choir The St. Cecilia Choir will include both boys and girls this year. This will allow for more individual attention in learning the principles of music and proper singing behavior during Mass. However, there will be opportunities for the boys and girls to sing separately at the 5:00 p.m. Vigil Mass as well as the opportunity to sing with the Cathedral Choir at the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Sundays. Eligibility: Girls and Boys ages 7 – 15 (Please register before September 14 by calling the Cathedral office.) Schola of Cantors This group consists of Cathedral Choir members called to additional service. The Cantors sing at all Sunday liturgies, occasionally for weekday Feast Observances and at Wedding and Funeral liturgies. Choir Guild This group of volunteers helps with the choir vestments and the choral library. Also, there is a need for women and men to help as choir parents for the St. Cecilia choir.
