Cathedral of Saint Helena Lenten Mission
“The Pillars of Lent and Our Christian Identity Crisis”
Monday, March 9 - Thursday, March 12 7:00 p.m. in the Brondel Center of the Cathedral of Saint Helena
This series of talks will examine the three pillars of Lent—prayer, fasting and almsgiving— as essential practices for the rediscovery of our authentic Christian identity. In an age when the question “Who am I?” has become increasingly difficult to answer, the penitential practices of Lent present a transformative spiritual path for us to follow as we seek to conform ourselves to Jesus Christ.
The mission schedule is as follows: Monday, March 9: As We Pray, So We Become Tuesday, March 10: Fasting Toward True Freedom
Wednesday, March 11: Almsgiving and the Cry of the Poor
Thursday, March 12: Human Dignity and Our Easter Identity
All the mission talks will begin at 7:00 p.m. and should last for roughly one hour each with time for questions afterwards.
Our mission presenter, Matt Brower, currently serves as the Executive Director of the Montana Catholic Conference where he advises and represents the Catholic bishops of Montana on matters of public policy. He and his wife Miriam and their two daughters are members of the Cathedral parish. He is a licensed attorney and holds a degree in theology from the University of Notre Dame.
