This Sunday, we heard another classic Gospel passage depicting Martha and Mary's encounter with Jesus. Although many of us can relate to Martha's response to this situation, it is in fact her sister Mary who has "chosen the better part" in Christ's eyes. What is Martha missing? Jesus says that she is "worried and anxious about many things", when "there is need of only one thing". Mary chose to sit at the feet of Jesus to be close to Him, a posture of one ready to be led and formed by our Savior here and now.
In our own lives, we choose what we worry about. Will we choose to be close to Jesus and trust that He will take care of everything, or will we choose to be anxious about the many problems in the world and in our lives?
